About this portal
Carved into the desert’s rose-red rock, Petra is the Rose City — capital of the Nabataeans, masters of water and caravan routes. At the end of the narrow gorge called the Siq, the Treasury (Al-Khazneh) suddenly appears, a monumental façade hewn into the cliff like a vision. Petra aligns upon the Great Circle linking Giza, Persepolis, and Mohenjo-Daro — a sacred line embracing the planet. It is a portal of the threshold: the narrow passage that opens into the splendor guarded within stone.
