About this portal
In the dimness of a grotto set into the Sainte-Baume mountain, Provençal tradition holds that Mary Magdalene spent her final thirty years in contemplation and silence. After crossing the sea from the Holy Land, she is said to have brought to southern France the teaching of the sacred feminine and of direct communion with the Divine. The ancient forest, the springs and the cave make this one of the oldest places of pilgrimage in Europe.
