About this portal
In the heart of the Bolsón de Mapimí desert, where Durango, Chihuahua and Coahuila meet, lies the Zone of Silence — an arid stretch where compasses waver, radios fall mute and the sky seems closer to the ground. The floor of the ancient Tethys Sea, its soil holds marine fossils and a high concentration of magnetite and meteoritic iron, the scientific explanation for the magnetic anomalies that gave the place its name. It is also a meteorite corridor — nearby fell the Allende (1969), the oldest rock ever studied on Earth, older than the Sun itself. Long before the modern legends, the Toboso people hunted and carved the stone in these wastelands. A portal of silence and listening, the Zone invites us to lower the noise of the world to hear what the Earth whispers.
