Avalon and the “St Michael Line”

The hill of Glastonbury Tor is identified with the mythical island of Avalon, linked to King Arthur and the Grail. In 1969, John Michell proposed in the book The View Over Atlantis the “St Michael Line”: a straight alignment of sacred sites that would cross southern England, from St Michael's Mount, in Cornwall, to Bury St Edmunds, passing through Glastonbury and Avebury. The line enchants pilgrims and even earned a plaque on the Tor, but archaeology treats it as a disputed account, without proof of an intentional route.
